What is Gideon?

The mission of The Gideons International is to win others for the Lord Jesus Christ, through association, personal testimony and personal work, and placing the Bible, or portions thereof, in hotels, hospitals, schools, prisons, military camps, and other related institutions.

  • WHAT DO WE DO?

The Gideons believe that God’s Word can make a difference in the lives of many people. That it can lead others to Christ and help that person grow and mature in his faith.

 

Our belief emanates from the surety of God’s promise in Isaiah 55:11:

“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BE A GIDEON?

  • The membership consists of Christian business and professional man, aged 21 years old, a member of any Evangelical or Protestant churches, and is holding to the following Christian beliefs:
  • Believe the Bible is the inspired (i.e. infallible and inerrant) Word of God. 1 Timothy 3:16
  • Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God. John 3:16
  • Received Him as personal Savior. Romans 10:9
  • Endeavor to follow Him in his daily life. Romans 12:1-2
  • Believe in the endless lake of fire for the unsaved. Revelation 20:10-15
  • Accept the Biblical standard of marriage being between one biological man and one biological woman. Genesis 2:24

Clergymen are excluded as they have already been called to a specific ministry.

 

In addition, a Gideon can join his wife, too, and become a member of The Auxiliary of the Gideons International.

 

Membership Fees:

Gideon – Php2,000 per year

Auxiliary – Php1,000 per year

Why I'm a Gideon: Shane Jett

Family heritage is a valuable part of a person’s life. It tells the story of where they came from and why they prioritize certain values. For Shane Jett, being a Gideon reflects the aspects of family that are most important to him. Shane was born and raised in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. His father was a mechanic, and he has fond childhood memories of helping his dad in the garage. His mother was a homemaker and a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.
